While I fully realize that the patience of even my kindest patrons likely expired some time ago, I hope I can re-earn your faith and loyalty moving forward. Anyway, you deserve an explanation. It’s a simple one: when I shifted from WordPress.com to the more professional-grade WordPress.org, which is the blog equivalent of moving out of your parent’s house and into your own apartment in the big, scary city, I opted for a very cost-effective web host who, after about a half year of unimpeachable, silent service, one day informed me that all of my data was gone. No backups, nothing more than a curt apology and a hilarious offer of complimentary products if it would make me feel better.

It did not. The last data I’d backed up was dated December 2011, which means that about six months of blog entries, list tweaks, and (most importantly) a custom-made plugin that served as a very rudimentary recommendation engine, were all gone. For keeps. The trauma was too much to bear. I let grass grow over my website, making promises to myself that it would live again.

And it will – better than ever. In a little while (don’t make me get more specific), I will launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund a total TheFilmsaurus makeover. The centerpiece will be the recommendation engine, a kind of Pandora Radio-like search box that will tell you what films you should see, based on what you tell it that you like. But fear not, there will still be the blog, the lists, my natural charm, etc. It’s just that it’s going to be more, well… boss.
